One of the most common questions we receive is: "Which is better, 304 or 316 stainless steel?" The answer depends on your application environment.

316 stainless steel is more resistant to corrosion, especially from chlorides and oxidation agents. This makes it the preferred choice for marine equipment, coastal architecture, chemical processing equipment, and any application exposed to saltwater or harsh chemicals. The addition of molybdenum (2–3%) gives 316 its superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.

304 stainless steel remains the industry workhorse – offering excellent corrosion resistance for most indoor and mild outdoor environments at a more cost-effective price point.
